BEST COOKIE SHOP IN U.S.A.
It’s impossible to look up any Louisville travel guide without this cookie cafe popping up on the list. And there’s a reason for that: Please & Thank You’s chocolate chip cookies are often named the best in Kentucky. Soft and gooey on the inside and slightly crisp around the edges, they’re made from a secret recipe that took the shop’s owner over two years to perfect. (JULY 2023)
FOOD & WINE
Name a more iconic Louisville pairing than a freshly-baked chocolate chip cookie and a cup of the most delicious coffee in town at PLEASE & THANK YOU—go ahead, we’ll wait patiently. For more than a decade now, owner Brooke Vaughn’s cookies and the locally roasted (Good Folks) coffee have been a break-time essential around town, served up at three distinctive, welcoming cafes; when Covid came to town, Vaughn and her team pivoted to serving more coffee and more cookies out of pick-up windows and delivery vans, keeping her team not only employed, but often terribly busy, as well. These days, the shops are back open, each one with its own great vibe—the original Market Street location, with its excellent jukebox, always feels like a party waiting to happen; drop by and join in the fun. Remember fun? (APRIL 2022)

EVERYONE TALKING ABOUT GILMORE GIRLS.
P&TY was LUKE’s for a day in October 2016
There was a little bit of Stars Hollow in Louisville on Wednesday. Please & Thank You on Market Street and Frankfort Avenue turned into Luke's Diner for the day.
Main characters Lorelai and Rory in the hit show, "Gilmore Girls," love their coffee. To celebrate the return of the dramatic comedy on Netflix, coffee shops all over North America turned into the mother and daughter's favorite place to drink their coffee: Luke’s Diner.
The show ended in 2007, but it will be back on Netflix starting Nov. 25. It will be a mini-series with four 90-minute episodes titled "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life." Each episode will be named after a season: “Winter,” “Spring,” “Summer” and “Fall.” The show takes place about eight years after we last saw Lorelai and Rory.
As a promotion, Netflix sponsored free coffee at Please & Thank You in Luke's Diner cups and employees wore backwards baseball caps, just like Luke often does in the show. A replica of the Luke’s Diner sign hung in the window.
The free coffee supply only lasted an hour, but fans still lined up afterward to buy their coffee in the famous Luke's Diner cup.
